Coping with emotional distress or any kind of mental health problem, including a severe mood disorder is always easier with support. Some people are lucky enough to have family and friends who can help and encourage them. Others may be able to rely on support arranged through their Doctor or other health professional. Moodswings tries to identify and help people, including friends and family, who would otherwise have little or no support.
After a brief chat on the phone, by email, or over a coffee at our Centre, a support plan could be arranged. This may include ongoing contact with our Helpline or regular phone calls to or from a dedicated Support Worker. If people are able to access our Manchester Centre, one-to-one support meetings could be arranged. Other support services that may be available include a range of social activities and workshops.
The support we provide is not intended as an alternative to the statutory services that are available. We do not give people direct help with matters such as benefits, employment or housing. Our aim is to provide the kind of help and encouragement that a caring friend or family member would give. With our support we hope that whatever your symptoms are and whatever form of distress you are experiencing you can learn to live life to the full and reach your goals.
