Last year it was announced that Chairman of Moodswings, Tom McAlpine had been awarded an OBE for services to mental healthcare for his work over the last forty years.
TOM IS AWARDED AN OBE
Tom was one of one hundred people receiving recognitions by the Prince including twenty people receiving the OBE and the others receiving an MBE.
Last month Tom took the trip down to Buckingham Palace to receive this well deserved award, along with his son, daughter and partner Linda Wilson who said: “We are all very proud of him, for his work at Moodswings and his work for mental healthcare over the years.”
Tom was presented the award by Prince Charles at a investiture in the Ball Room of Buckingham Palace. He was flanked by Gurkah Guards all the way through the ceremony and the band of ColdStream Guards were also present playing classical music in the Ball Room as guests looked on to see Tom receive his medal.
Tom said: “It was a wonderful experience to go to the palace and get the chance to meet the Prince of Wales who awarded the OBE. It was a fabulous day. I am pleased that people have been awarded for the contribution to mental healthcare, anything that promotes the field in a positive way has to be a good thing.”
